Crowdfunding – Career Discovery Reimagined for the 21st Century

What if every young person could discover a job they genuinely love, before they have to choose?

Currently, young people are expected to make decisions that will shape the rest of their lives, with partial information, outdated guidance, and little real visibility of what’s actually out there. Many are asked to choose subjects, courses, and pathways before they understand what careers actually look like, or that most of their opportunities even exist. Nobody should have to guess what a career feels like before committing years of their life to it.

Working Eye replaces guesswork with discovery. It is a deeply personal career discovery platform, using AI and video to show young people the full picture: the industries, the roles, the day-to-day reality, and the path to get there. Everything they need, including links to further information, in one place, when they need it most.

Working Eye turns what is usually a 15-minute conversation with a teacher or parent, into a lifelong companion that is there through every decision, every transition, every new chapter of working life. It gives young people confidence, clarity, and agency at the moment when those things matter most.

And when young people have what they need to make better decisions, the impact doesn’t stop with them. It shapes families, communities, and the future of work itself. Which is why eventually, there’ll be versions of Working Eye for older students and adults too.

Our research tells us that:

  • 84% of the UK’s 7 million teenagers say they don’t know what they want to do when they leave school
  • 96% of graduates change career within three years of leaving college
  • 62% of working adults want to change career path, but don’t know how to find what they want to do instead

This funding starts to get Working Eye built. A 21st century platform that improves access to opportunity, supports better decisions, and meets young people in the formats and on the screens where they already are.

What Is Working Eye?

Working Eye is a career discovery platform that lets young people see real jobs, not read about them or sit through a talk about them, but actually see what they look like, day to day, from the inside.

It’s personalised to each user, built around the way young people actually consume content today, and designed to help them find work that’s best suited to them before they commit to anything.

For too long, traditional careers advice has relied on text-heavy descriptions and abstract explanations that assume prior knowledge that many young people simply don’t have.

Working Eye is different. It is built around real life workplaces – professionally filmed, genuinely watchable and motivating – showing what jobs actually look like from the inside, day to day. Every experience is personalised to the individual: their interests, their instincts, their aspirations not just their academic achievments.

We’re creating a place where curiosity comes first, pressure doesn’t exist, and young people are free to explore what might be possible, in their own time, and in their own way.

Why this matters

Generation after generation have been asked to decide too much, too late, and with too little information.

Most don’t know what specific industries actually look like, which roles exist beyond the obvious ones, how people really spend their working days, or how different careers align with their values and strengths.

Those without family connections, professional role models, or strong school support are especially disadvantaged. They rule themselves out of careers they don’t even know exist because they lack visibility, not ability.

As one student told us:

“I was interested in engineering, but I didn’t know what it really was — so I decided not to take it.”

That single decision can change a life. Multiply it by millions, and the consequences reach far beyond the individual into skills pipelines, industries, and society as a whole.

Teenagers talk about the need for proper career guidance

We are failing young people not through lack of care, but through outdated tools and guidance that arrives after the key choices are already made. Support built around processes rather than people. And video content that exists, but rarely inspires or motivates.

The Solution: Working Eye

Working Eye replaces static, one-size-fits-all careers guidance with something young people actually want to engage with. It shifts the question from “what job should I do?” to “what could I become?”, and gives them everything they need to answer it for themselves.

We’ve tested Working Eye with students, parents, careers professionals, and industry leaders. The response has been unambiguous.

“It’s unlike anything else I’ve seen.”

“I wish this existed before choosing my GCSEs.”

“Using film makes careers feel real and achievable.”

“This is the holy grail — the one we’ve been waiting for.”

In numbers:

  • 100% of 70 school heads interviewed expressed strong interest in Working Eye.
  • 100% approval across 239 students, teachers and parents
  • 100% of careers professionals agree that guidance should start earlier with 11 to 13 year olds.
  • 48% of parents said they’d subscribe at under £100 a year: our projected membership fee is £48.

The demand is there. The validation is there. Now we need to build it.

Why Funding Is Crucial

This campaign isn’t just about launching a product. It’s about building momentum. We’re raising £75,000 to take the next meaningful step towards launch.

If the right opportunity presents itself, up to £20,000 could be directed towards opening the door to a global network of investors and family offices already aligned with Working Eye’s mission. It will lay the foundations for expanding into the USA and beyond, to build a global brand.

The remainder goes directly into production: the career discovery videos that demonstrate Working Eye’s impact, attract long-term investment, and start changing lives. Once our next phase target of a further £825,000 is secured, the full AI platform will go live within six to eight months.

More funding at this stage means more videos. And more videos means a faster path to the full platform. It really is that simple.

Without this step, progress stalls. With it, we move from a validated idea to a revenue-generating product built to help solve the careers crisis at scale.

Giving Back

Working Eye is built on the simple belief that where you grow up, who you know, or how much your family earns shouldn’t determine what you get to become.

That’s why we’re committing a minimum of 5% of gross revenues to the Working Eye Foundation to fund free access for underserved young people and communities, and work towards a future where opportunity isn’t determined by postcode or privilege.

Be Part Of This

If you believe young people deserve better tools, clearer insights, and fairer access to opportunity, then this is your chance to help make that real.

Every donor gets free access to the Working Eye YouTube Premium Channel, where new career discovery videos will land as soon as production wraps. Be the first to see them.

Reach our £75,000 target, and the first videos go live within three months.

*Please note VAT for backers from EU and UK will be collected during the Crowdfunding phase.

The Inspiration

As a parent of four, all of whom went to different schools, both state and private, I’ve experienced first-hand the lack of effective careers guidance our children are given. If the truth be known, little has changed since I was at school other than the same, tired old “advice” and outdated psychometric tests, repackaged in a different way.

And despite promises from numerous online platforms, none offered a truly comprehensive way to explore unfamiliar jobs and opportunities, or understand how to access them.

Let’s be honest, most people can’t name all the industries, career paths and job options beyond the obvious ones. Or which roles might suit someone’s personality, values, and lifestyle goals beyond their academic ability. I certainly can’t.

As hard as it is to believe, there is no single source that impartially answers young people’s questions or helps them discover meaningful careers that are suited to them as an individual. There is nothing that gives them everything they need, including links to other relevant sites and platforms, all in one place.

There had to be a solution. Especially for the ever changing world of employment we now live in. So instead of just moaning about it, I decided to do something about it. And that’s how Working Eye was born.

An innovative, hyper-personalised career discovery platform using the very latest technology to search, explore and discover a job or career that suits them and their work/life aspirations best. A career discovery platform fit for the 21st century and beyond, that will evolve as the job market evolves and more importantly, evolve as an individual’s working life does.

Risks and challenges

Building momentum quickly is the key challenge for any crowdfunding campaign as it relies on reaching a critical mass of backers in a short window of opportunity. If Working Eye resonates with you, the single most valuable thing you can do, apart from donating or course, is share it with your network and point them to our Indiegogo page.

Our primary risk is falling short of the further funding needed in order to build the AI platform, produce videos at scale, and launch in February 2027. We are, however, have spoken to several potential investors, highly confident that reaching our £75,000 goal will send a powerful signal to the larger equity investors by demonstrating, alongside our independent validation research, that a real paying market exists for Working Eye. That proof of demand will make the next phase of fundraising significantly more straightforward.

Refunds and cancellation

If we don’t meet our £75,000 target, you will not be charged unless, you have used an instant payment method. In that case, should we fall short of our target, we will refund all instant payment within two weeks of the campaign finishing. It may take a little longer for the money to be credited to your account, depending on your own bank.

Broad timeline to launch

  • April 2026 Launch Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign
  • June/July/August 2026 Produce Minimum Viable Product (MVP) content (videos and links)
  • July to December 2026 Build an MVP platform
  • February/March 2027 Launch MVP platform through independent schools
  • September/October 2027 Launch MVP through state schools
  • February/March 2028 Launch full platform (not MVP) to UK mass market

Throughout this entire process, prioritised video content will be in constant production to build the Working Eye library. We will also be laying the foundations for the USA version of Working Eye.
